MARVEL'S CINEMATIC UNIVERSE IS IN DECLINE AND CANNOT BE DENIED
One of the least anticipated films in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has arrived, which is also the shortest of the entire saga. There was not much expectation, nor was it clear what to expect from Captain Marvel's new adventure, now joining Ms. Marvel and Captain Rambeau. And in the end, it turns out to be a film that doesn't feel so necessary, that does have good moments, crazy situations, but it will definitely be forgettable and only served as a stepping stone that half clarifies where the story is going.
This film works half as a sequel to Captain Marvel, it is rather the direct sequel to the Ms. Marvel series that introduced us to Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) obtaining powers similar to her great idol: Captain Marvel (Brie Larson who he sees the tiredness in his character). And there is that part of Captain Rambeau to connect with the first Captain movie. From here a story is built whose main objective is to give the baton to Kamala, to make her look, to be the protagonist and thanks to the great charisma of Iman Vellani, there are no complaints about it. She brings tenderness and a great angel to the character and the Marvel universe.
That said, the story of the movie is just seeing that the Captain can work as a team and not live alone. But the plot becomes very absurd when they tell you that everything would have been solved if it weren't so selfish. The villain is Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), one of those affected by the destruction of the supreme intelligence of the Kree, who now wants Kamala's bracelet and to return life to her planet and to be honest, she is not seen as a great threat, She doesn't look strong, powerful or intimidating. And that causes her to not give a sense of danger, everything becomes flat.
In the end, all this makes it feel like just a long episode of a series or a movie that could easily have gone straight to streaming and no one would have complained. The level of visual effects is still quite bad, by the way.
The truth is that it is not the worst in the MCU, but it is one that will be quite unmemorable. Its great strength is the two post-credits scenes, which already tell us where this universe is going. They are very good and exciting for what can happen in the next phase of the MCU. So yes, you will have to watch the movie to see them and those will be the most emotional moments of the entire film.
