Gladiator II 2024 Vegamovies: Release Date, Review

Ridley Scott 's film revealed its first official poster and the title of the long-awaited sequel to Gladiator . It has also been confirmed that it will hit theaters in Peru a week before it does in the United States.

There is a lot of anticipation for the second installment of Gladiator and Ridley Scott knows it. That's why he has been revealing information and teasers little by little to keep us informed about this sequel. The recent release of the first poster for the film, which confirms its title as Gladiator II , has further increased the excitement just seven months before its release.

The sequel will focus on Lucius, Lucilla's son played by Paul Mescal , continuing the epic narrative of the first film. Now an adult, Lucius must face challenges in a corrupt and decadent Rome. The cast includes Pedro Pascal , Denzel Washington , Joseph Quinn, and marks the return of Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi .

According to Deadline , during the CinemaCon in Las Vegas, an image was also presented accompanied by the iconic line from the original film: "What we do in this life is reflected in eternity." In the first images and clips shown at the event, attendees witnessed a Mescal in intense combat scenes and a Quinn with a "sinister" presence.

When is Gladiator 2 released?

The official poster features Paul Mescal kneeling in the sand, ready to start the battle. The image nods to the final scene of the original 2000 film, where Maximus, played by  Russell Crowe , fights to avenge the death of his family.

In addition, the distributor in charge of the release in Latin America has confirmed that the film will hit theaters in Peru on November 14, while in the United States it will debut on the 22nd of the same month. The first trailer was released on Tuesday, July 9.

What did Russell Crowe say about Gladiator 2 ?

Russell Crowe , who won an Oscar for his role as Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius in Ridley Scott’s iconic action film Gladiator , has expressed his discomfort regarding the sequel. During an interview on  Kyle Meredith With , the 60-year-old actor mentioned that he feels “ slightly uncomfortable ” with the project.

“Even though I’m dead and have no say in what’s done, there are certain things I’ve heard that make me feel like they don’t fit the moral journey of that particular character,” Crowe remarked. “But I can’t really have much of a say in it — it’s not my place, since I’m underground. So we’ll see how it turns out.”

The release of the first images of  Gladiator 2 has aroused enormous expectations due to the impressive scenes that the new film directed by Ridley Scott promises . With its release scheduled for November of this year, an epic confrontation between the characters played by actors Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal is anticipated .

To prepare for his role, Mescal underwent a rigorous training regimen with the aim of achieving a physique comparable to that of Russell Crowe in the original film, when he played General Maximus Decimus Meridius. Pascal, his co-star, commented on this aspect in an interview with Vanity Fair .

"It's brutal! I call it 'The Paul Wall'. He got very strong. I would rather be thrown off a building than face him again. Facing someone so fit, talented and so much younger... Besides the fact that Ridley is a total genius, Paul was a great motivation for me to subject my poor body to such an experience," he declared.
